Nitte (Deemed-to-be University) has its origins in the Nitte Education Trust's collection of institutions. At Nitte, Mangalore, and Bangalore, the Trust has 36 institutions distributed across three campuses. It offers health professions education, engineering, management, humanities, general education, vocational training, and school/pre-university education, among other subjects. Medicine, allied health sciences, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, physiotherapy, speech and audiology, biological sciences, media & communication, and architecture are among the 74 programs offered by the university. It has almost 4600 students on its rolls, 575 faculty members, and 2175 support workers. The University of Mangalore has 52 acres of land in the Deralakatte-Paneer suburbs of Mangalore.
